After reading the replys to my somewhat confused question about older and newer Kayas i want a new one. I love mine but after seeing pictures of the new version i really want her too and there is that tempting code. The problem is i just ordered the get well set and miss liberty outfit which is close to 50.00. I can't spend anymore money on dolls this month. How do i resist the power of the AG force? Someone please talk me out of clicking that order button.

Best way to not buy- DO NOT visit the AG site. Not even to look.

Number 2: Take the collection you have now and PLAY with it. I don't "Play" with my dolls, but I love to organize my collection, change their outfits, set up displays. Use what you have! You can enjoy your things without constantly having to buy.

Number 3: Make albums! Have your dolls act out things for the enjoyment of the rest of us.

Search for the thread "Things to do when you don't have money to buy AG"

and if you absolutely have to buy AG sell something! Unfortunately an old Kaya isn't likely to get you enough money to buy a new Kaya. She just doesn't go for as much money- and there are no PM Kaya's so you don't have that going for you. If she is in perfect condition with a box you could always call AG and ask if you can exchange- I might feel like I was taking advantage of the system if I did that- but if you really aren't happy with her then you certainly could.

Thanks for the help. I don't sell on ebay and doubt i could. I don't even have a home computer or a camera and selling at work wouldn't be a good idea. And i don't want to give up my old Kaya. I'm just selfish and i want more Kayas. I think i'd like a whole tribe all dressed in different outfits. But then i'd need more horses ect. I've been trying on ebay for a newer girl but i don't want to go higher than 50.00. I've seen bin for 80 but at that price i might as well get a brand new one which is what i really want.

Just tell yourself that you will wait until you have the money. Make a goal for when that time will be, and enjoy the waiting. When you can really afford her, she will be so much more fun to buy!

    Here's the thread Skittl mentioned:

I wish it could be stickied, but I know there are too many stickies. I try to bring it back up to the top by posting an idea every once in a while. I hope it helps!

Instead of getting a whole new Kaya, why not just add some color to the one you already have? I have a 2003 Kaya with the less rosy complexion, and I gave her rosier cheeks and lips myself. It's extremely easy. All I did was buy some regular old powder blush that looked like it would work with Kaya's skin tone. I dabbed my finger in the blush and rubbed it on her cheeks, then dabbed off any excess with a tissue. I did this a couple of times over the span of a few weeks, and the color is now absorbed into her vinyl and looks great. I got this tip on the board a long time ago from, if I remember correctly, GillyGals. I also touched up her lips with some regular old lipstick - I just dabbed an eyeshadow brush in the lipstick and smoothed it on her lips. She looks very cute and rosy now. Here are some pics of her:

Her lips look shinier in these pictures than they actually are. I think the camera flash reflects off the color and makes it look brighter and shinier. In person the color is more matte.

Thought I'd add that I've used this color technique on Addy, too, and I think she looks gorgeous!

Hmm...for some reason the picture keeps coming up really small on my computer when I try to add it into the thread. If anybody wants a larger view, this pic is also in the "My American Girls" album in my signature link. It's pic #94.

What a great idea. I going to the drug store at lunch to get some blush. It's kinda funny when i think about it. The dolls are getting makeup but i've never bothered to use any myself. Of course, all the girls have nice new clothes and all my outfits are so shabby that my coworkers are ready to take up a collection for me.
